Birding in the Acad Oval

For this week, my team was assigned to go around the Acad Oval to look for birds. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to see much in the oval because there were lots of cars and we thought that birds would likely stay away from this area. Because of this, we decided to go to the Sunken Garden Area.

Upon reaching the Sunken Garden Area, we could hear birds calling everywhere. We could see them flying and calling but we couldn’t really identify them because they were hidden in the trees.

Unfortunately, most of what we saw were just mayas. Although we were able to identify a Philippine Fantail and some small birds, I wasn’t able to take pictures of them. This is why I’ve decided to attach a photo of a Maya instead.

Birding in the Sunken Garden is quite hard because the birds are hidden in the tall trees. Although we know for sure that there are lots of birds there. Nevertheless, it was still an interesting experience as I was able to explore a different terrain in UP Diliman.
